It belonged to a relative and is thought to have been bought in 1939 from Maple & Co. for whom he worked and were famous furniture manufacturers at the time. However I am not a furniture expert and the date is not certain. It originally had a mirror attached to the rear but that was broken and removed. The optional thick glass top was also broken at the back edge (perhaps where the mirror fell on it) but could still be used. It is an attractive item in very nice condition. The insides of the drawers are almost stain free. It measures approximately 30" high plus 2" for the rear strip, 42" wide and 20" deep including the central bow front. I no longer have the space for it. A stool is included which is probably from the same date but is not as good quality and the original fabric would probably need replacing.

It was needed to fit into a specific alcove of the house, but unfortunately I measured it up wrong and it doesn’t fit. The company will charge me delivery costs to return it, along with a massive ‘re-stocking fee’ so I’m about to lose about 35! I thought I’d try and sell it on here, and if it’s not gone by next week, cut my loses and send it back. It really is a great little hutch but it’s just the wrong size for me. It’s been taken out of the box to look at and assembled with the dowels only when we noticed the size issue – it’s then been sat safely in the hallway overnight. I foolishly put the original box outside so it’s probably been rained on overnight. The hutch itself has never been outdoors and will stay indoors until you collect. The hutch is outstanding quality, with 2 floors. Made from treated (water based anti-fungal stain which is animal friendly) fir wood this sustainable hutch is suitable for outdoor use or indoor use.
